  16. Hot Checkers works on any Palm OS 3.1 (or above) compatible device.
  17.  
  18. 2. Installation
  19. ===============
  20.  
  21. To install the games to your handheld choose the game file, for example,
  22.  
  23.   worm.prc
  24.  
  25. and run it using Explorer, commandline, or your favorite file manager.
  26. Palm Software Installation utility will prompt you with other installation
  27. options.
  28.  
  29. Palm IIIc users should install color version of the game which (if exists)
  30. named, for example,
  31.  
  32.   hangman_color.prc
  33.  
  34.  
  35. 3. Game Rules
  36. =============
  37. - The game is being played on a 8x8 square board.
  38. - Initially the pieces are located on both (upper and lower) edges of the board, in 3 rows.
  39. - An ordinary piece may be moved one square diagonally normally, and three squares while capturing an opponent piece.
  40. - An ordinary piece may become a queen piece, if it reaches the other edge of the board during the game.
  41. - A queen piece may move any number of squares diagonally.
  42. - You may capture any quantity of opponenet pieces in any diagonal direction.
  43. - The main aim of the game is to capture all opponent pieces, or block them.
  44.  
  45. There are different modifications of Checkers:
  46.  
  47. American Checkers
  48. - Pawn cannot eat backwards
  49. - Queen can move only one square per turn
  50.  
  51. Russian Checkers
  52. - Pawn can eat backwards
  53. - Queen can move any number of squares per turn
  54.  
  55. Russian Give-away
  56. - Rules the same as Russian Checkers
  57. - The goal of the game is to give away all checkers or to become locked by opponent
  58.
